BETHLEHEM CHRISTIAN FAMILIES
The olive wood carvings and works of art will be on display and for sale Sunday, September 29, all morning long in the Fellowship Center.

CROSS TIES ASSEMBLY is Tuesday, September 24th at 9:00 a.m. in the Parlor.

CROSS CHRISTMAS MARKET
Summer is almost over which means it's time to start working on your Cross Christmas Market crafts! This annual event provides an opportunity for our Cross school children to buy inexpensive Christmas gifts for their family members. What can you make? Get creative and dust off your craft supplies. If you have any questions, contact Heidi Peltier, Amy Blankenship or Elizabeth Chandler (school parent).

THINK ABOUT IT - Stop the hopping
A church is an imperfect mix of imperfect believers, so it’s easy for members to find faults or feel disappointed. That, in turn, may tempt us to shop around.

C.S. Lewis addresses that in The Screwtape Letters. “If a man can’t be cured of churchgoing,”  Screwtape advises his demon protégé,  “the next best thing is to send him all over the neighborhood looking for the church that ‘suits’ him until he becomes a taster or connoisseur of churches.” How Satan must hate when Christians maintain long-term commitment to one church!

The urge to church-hop harms congregations as well as believers. “Spiritual depth isn’t fostered by satiating your sense of felt needs,” writes James Emery White.  “It’s receiving a balanced diet of teaching and challenge, investing in service and mission, living in community and diversity that you probably would not select for yourself.”

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!
Please contact Sandy Gremmer at 830-832-2944 or send an email to sgremmer@crosslcmsschool.org to be added to the schedule.  Thank you!

SANCTUARY SIDE DOORS ARE ATTENDED! – For those with mobility issues, and for the occasional inclement weather—the north side doors of the Sanctuary are available.  You will find them attended prior to each Sunday Morning Worship Service.  IF YOU LEAVE THE SANCTUARY THROUGH THOSE DOORS, please close them tightly behind you…they do not close without help!  Thank you!

ELEXIO COMMUNITY
If you would like access to Elexio Community to view the church’s online member directory and your personal giving history, please email churchsec@crosslcms.org for your user name and login information.

ONLINE GIVING IS AVAILABLE
Cross Lutheran Church members are now able to give their contributions to the Lord and their church by way of our church website (see the Home Page).
We now have a button titled Give Online. Click there and you will go to the online Giving Site and then follow the directions. The financial site is completely secure and reports of your giving are sent to Jim Arnold, the Financial Secretary at Cross.

This Online Giving provides you with the ability to give by self-directed bank transfers, or you may use your debit or credit card, or you may select a one-time gift or set up recurring contributions to the General Fund and Building Ministry Fund, as well as other ‘listed’ funds, including a limited number for our School Ministry.

If you are currently a ‘Simply Giving’ participant and wish to change to online giving—you will need to contact Mr. Arnold to let him know you wish to stop that method of giving, otherwise those contributions will continue.

In addition, visitors to our website will also be able to give a contribution to Cross Lutheran in the same way.

If you have questions, or would like more information, please contact Jim Arnold:

CROSS CARES
Cross Cares is our Homeless Ministry that started as an after-school club stuffing bags with “easy-open” food items and hygiene kits.  Cross Lutheran has partnered with Steve’s Pantry at Gruene United Methodist Church.  They provide us with the bags; we fill them up; and then they pass them out to the homeless in our community.  On the 3rd Sunday of the month we are asking you to bring “easy-open” food items and personal size hygiene items to support this ministry.  Easy-open items mean that they can be opened without a can opener.  SAMS’s Club and Costco are great places to shop for these items.  Thank you for supporting this ministry.

DOWNLOAD THE FREE APP!
Did you know that Cross has an app for your mobile device?  Calendars, news, schedules, sermons…and much, much more is available to you!  Simply go to the app store for your device and type in Cross Lutheran Church & School.  You’ll find all kinds of things—from Bible Reading suggestions, to other resources.  You can even watch the sermon from Sunday!

MISSED THE SERMON?
Simply go to Sermon Archive on the menu at the top of this page. It is easy from there to select either watching the video, or just listening to the audio.
