New Beginnings, that’s what this article is going to represent. Even as I write this (in December) I can’t help but think about the new beginnings in store for you and me as we enter into 2012. I’d especially like to lift up our two families from Bastrop that are dealing with new beginnings and finding the strength to let go as well. Any kind of change can and will provoke emotions of varying degrees. Some will feel happiness for the change and others will feel a deep sorrow that keeps them from seeing hope. I can’t imagine what it would feel like to lose everything I had obtained over the years. Granted, I live my life knowing that I’ll never take anything with me when I die but I’m also wise enough to say that if it happened to me I’d probably feel a deep remorse; knowing I’d lost everything I held dear and called my own.
So where do we find that special formula that will help us look at the new beginnings in a way that encourages us and moves us forward in our life? Ironically, it’s not about how many steps you have to take or finding the right formula, it’s about the Holy Spirit working through the Word of the Lord; changing our own attitudes and showing us what hope really looks like.
I’m so happy to have been chosen by the Lord to meet and build relationships with these two families. Not because I get to bless them by giving them gifts or Christmas decorations, but because the Lord is blessing me by allowing me to be a part of this story. I get the opportunity to watch their new beginning; every tear and every smile. I can’t begin to describe for you the joy that they feel as the Lord continues to encourage you to walk with them as they embark on their new beginning.
This January I’ll be reflecting upon the New Year but also the new beginning I receive every time the Lord forgives me and makes my relationship with Him right again. I want to thank you again for giving; not just your money and your time, but your prayers and your encouragement as well. The Lord is constantly using His people to help those who need to see, feel and grasp the hope only He can give.
My prayer is that our Bastrop families begin to see the Lord at the center of their hope, and that God will continue to be with you daily as you struggle with new beginnings and moving forward in the victory given to us through Christ our Lord.
In Him we live and move and have our being.
